Caraway

Caraway native to western Asia, Europe and Northern Africa.The seeds usually used whole, have a pungent anise like flavor.

Caraway is so widely distributed it can be found in the wilds of Iceland and Scandinavia, Spain and the Himalayas, southern Africa, Australia and the prairies and the pampas of America.

Culinary Uses

Roots: Sweet and similar to parsnip can be used in soups and salads.
Seeds: Cakes, biscuits, confectionary, breads, fruit preserves, sauces, soups and salads.  
Leaves: Young leaves shoots can be used raw and cooked in salads.
Flowers: Unknown culinary uses.
